Brown looking to pay back Bruce's faith

New Sunderland defender Wes Brown has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by manager Steve Bruce.

The former England international joined the Black Cats for a reported £1m fee during the summer after falling out of favour at Manchester United.

The 31-year-old has revealed that he has settled into his new surroundings well and is keen to repay Bruce for signing him.

"I know all the lads now; we're starting to gel as a team and hopefully we can start getting more points on the board," Brown told the club's official website.

"The manager's been great. I was glad he wanted me in the first place and I have settled in very well here.

"Hopefully I can pay the boss back in some sense by playing well and keeping clean sheets."

Brown has featured in all of Sunderland's Premier League matches so far this season.
