Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole has expressed his excitement in playing alongside his childhood friend Adam Johnson in the near future.
The Black Cats snapped up the winger from Manchester City for a reported £12m last week and Cattermole has insisted that he can't wait to link up with the player that he met through the ranks at Middlesbrough.
"It's funny, everyone seems to go their own way in football and move round clubs, so it's great to be playing alongside him again," Cattermole told the club's official website.
"Johnno is a great talent, always has been. He has that ability to go past players and our fans will really like him. I'm sure he'll do great with us and I think he'll find a lot more space and grass in front of him than he was used to at Man City."
It is thought that Johnson will make his Sunderland debut against Morecambe in the League Cup this week.
