Cattermole to play through the pain

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has said that he is ready to play through the pain barrier for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old has suffered with a knee complaint in recent weeks, and was replaced in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City at the weekend.

However, Cattermole has no plans to miss the final weeks of the campaign.

"I felt my medial a little in the Everton game, but I was fine after that. Then I just felt it again in the closing stages at City. Just tweaked. It won't be a problem though. There was just a little stretch of my ligament. I went off as a precaution," he told The Gazette. Cattermole joined Sunderland from Wigan Athletic in 2009.
