Sunderland forward Jeremain Lens has revealed that he is fully focused on making an impact at the start of the Premier League season.
The 27-year-old moved to the Black Cats from Dynamo Kiev for a fee in the region of £8m, and notched his first goal for the club in their 1-0 win over Hannover in their final pre-season game.
"I was very happy to score my first goal but it was not an official game so let's see on Saturday," Lens told the club's official website. "It was nice to end pre-season with a win but now we have to focus on next weekend's important game.
"The goal will give me a lot of confidence but even without it I would be starting with a lot, because I have great teammates, great fans and everybody is supporting me.
"With that in your head you can't have a bad start to the season; the supporters also surprised me because I'm used to seeing much less fans, but the away end was full and if it is always like that it will be perfect."
Sunderland open the Premier League season against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium next week.
