Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill believes that captain Lee Cattermole should not give up on one day playing for England.
The 24-year-old committed his future to the North East club yesterday by penning a fresh four-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
"Why shouldn't Lee be thinking about England," the Northern Echo quotes O'Neill as saying. "He has definite ability and is still remarkably young."
Cattermole has been at Sunderland since 2009.
