Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill believes that his side can win Sunday's derby against Newcastle United.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has said that his side has a good chance of winning Sunday's derby against Newcastle United.

The Black Cats travel to the Sports Direct Arena having been humiliated 5-1 there last season.

"It's a massive game and it's one I am looking forward to," O'Neill told the Sunderland Echo. "It's a ferocious derby and I'm sure it will be played at a great pace.

"We are away from home, which makes it difficult, but we have to be ready for it, and if we perform as strongly as we can, of course we can win it."

Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by their local rivals at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.
