Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill heaps praise on "fantastic" goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Sunderland goalkeeper Martin O'Neill has praised the attitude of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian's performances have been a rare positive for the Black Cats this season as they battle away in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

"He really wants to be good. His attitude is fantastic," O'Neill said of the 24-year-old.

"He is always striving to improve. Even on some days off, he wants to come in and do the work.

"I think that determination to be really good at his trade has shone through, it really has shone through."

Sunderland welcome West Ham United to the Stadium of Light in the league on Saturday.
