Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has praised his side for their commitment and effort in their 1-0 defeat away at Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.
R's striker Charlie Austin struck at the end of the first half to condemn the Black Cats to their first defeat of the season.
Poyet told reporters after the game: "Overall I was quite happy with the performance.
"There was practically nothing between the teams and for much of the game we were in control. There were two or three situations where we didn't make the right decision. It was the cutting edge in the latter third.
"Corners and set plays can make the difference. It is not a nice way to lose the game but hopefully we will learn."
Sunderland currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, with two draws and a loss.
