Sunderland full-back Danny Rose is hoping for relegation rivals Wigan Athletic to slip up when they face Swansea City tomorrow night.

Sunderland defender Danny Rose has admitted that he is hoping Wigan Athletic will lose their match against Swansea City tomorrow night.

Sunderland picked up a point in their 1-1 draw with Stoke City this evening, lifting themselves three points clear of 18th-placed Wigan in the Premier League table having played a game more.

Rose is hoping that tonight's point will prove vital in the race to avoid the drop and is keen for Swansea to do them a favour by beating Wigan tomorrow.

"I think patience was the key, especially when they had two banks of four. Now we wait and hope for Wigan to slip up tomorrow," said Rose.

"The boys dug in deep and hopefully it will be a valuable point."

Sunderland's final two games of the season come against Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
