Sunderland have reportedly moved a step closer to appointing Jack Ross as their new manager after agreeing terms with the St Mirren boss.
The Black Cats are rumoured to have placed the 41-year-old towards the top of their wishlist following the sacking of Chris Coleman at the end of last month.
Having recently been granted permission to discuss the job with Ross, Sky Sports News claims that an agreement could now be in place.
Ross, crowned Scottish Manager of the Year after guiding St Mirren to the Scottish Championship title, was also thought to be in contention to replace Mick McCarthy at Ipswich Town.
Sunderland hope to have their new manager officially in place by the end of the week, giving him plenty of time to prepare for next season's League One campaign.
