Leyton Orient midfielder Romain Vincelot has claimed that Gus Poyet will be a success at Sunderland.
The 45-year-old, who led Brighton & Hove Albion to promotion from League One in 2011, was appointed as the Premier League side's new head coach on Tuesday.
Vincelot, who played under Poyet at Brighton, believes that the Uruguayan's experience with the Seagulls will stand him in good stead at the Stadium of Light.
"He's in the kind of situation he was in when he arrived at Brighton, so I think he has the ability to do it," Vincelot told the Herald.
"Then it is the Premier League, so it is a big challenge for him, but I think he has everything to do it properly.
"He's a really good manager and a good tactician, really unbelievable. He gave me good advice and lots of good habits on the pitch."
Poyet left Brighton in June after four years with the club.
