Sunderland manger Gus Poyet has described his side's performance during Saturday's 4-1 win at Fulham as "outstanding".
The Black Cats moved off the bottom of the Premier League table by recording their second away victory of the season, thanks to an Adam Johnson hat-trick and Ki Sung-Yueng's third goal in eight games.
"It was an outstanding performance," Poyet told BBC Sport. "If we can retain that level then we can stay up. We needed something special and got it today.
"The lads were superb, you do not score four goals away from home many times in your life.
"Adam Johnson was exceptional with his passing, his creativity and everything he did today. He needs the ball and the chance to pass it."
Sunderland are now just one point from safety.
