Palermo forward Abel Hernandez has confirmed that he is still searching for a new club after rejecting the opportunity to join Benfica.
Hernandez was promised that he would have the chance to leave Palermo by the club's president after helping them win promotion back to Serie A last season, but the Uruguayan, who is rumoured to be a target for Sunderland, is not open to moving to Portugal.
"I thank Benfica and their president but I prefer to wait for another chance in a different league," Hernandez told tuttomercatoweb.com. "My future? [Maurizio] Zamparini said to me that after promotion to Serie A he would let me go.
"Let's see what happens. I won't rule out staying here."
Hernandez scored 14 goals in 30 appearances last season.
