Gus Poyet: 'Jermain Defoe will be only arrival'

Gus Poyet claims that Jermain Defoe will be the only arrival at Sunderland this month.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has claimed that Jermain Defoe is likely to be the only arrival at the club this January transfer window.

The striker signed for the Black Cats earlier this week and Poyet expects the switch to be the sole deal this month.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the Uruguayan said: "I don't expect to do any more business in January."

Fabio Borini has been repeatedly linked with a permanent move from Liverpool after a successful loan spell last term, although the arrival of Defoe is likely to see Poyet end his pursuit of the Italian.
