Report: Sunderland close in on Luis Cavanda

Sunderland are closing in on a deal to sign Lazio defender Luis Cavanda, according to a report.

Paolo Di Canio is looking to shake up his Black Cats side this summer and is eyeing a new right-back to replace Phil Bardsley.

Cavanda has one year left on his contract and Di Canio is hopeful that a deal in the region of £2.5m can be agreed for the Belgium Under-21 international, reports the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old made 19 appearances for Lazio last season.
