Veteran forward Jermain Defoe has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Sunderland and Oxford United.
Earlier this month, the 39-year-old was allowed to depart Rangers on a free transfer, providing him an opportunity to find a new club for the remainder of the campaign.
Given his status as a free agent, Defoe can sign for another team after Monday's transfer deadline, but it appears that two clubs have already made approaches.
According to Sky Sports News, Sunderland are interested in a reunion with the former England international, who plied his trade at the Stadium of Light between 2015 and 2017.
The Black Cats parted company with manager Lee Johnson on Sunday night, a development which may hold up any negotiations with Defoe.
Oxford are also said to be monitoring the situation with both clubs attempting to earn promotion from League One this season.
