Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis has suggested that his side were unlucky to lose their Premier League match against Manchester City this afternoon.
The Swans thought that they had taken a point from the Etihad Stadium when Bafetimbi Gomis netted an equaliser in the 90th minute, but a Kelechi Iheanacho goal in added time gave the hosts all three points.
Curtis was talking after his first game in charge as caretaker manager following Garry Monk's sacking on Wednesday, and the 61-year-old believes that the team will survive in the Premier League if they can replicate their performance levels from this afternoon.
"We're bitterly disappointed. When Gomis scored, I thought it would've been a fantastic point for us," Curtis told the club's official website. "But maybe that's the difference between the teams at the bottom and the teams at the top - that bit of luck.
"I thought we were excellent today and deserved something out of the game. I think we showed today that the quality is there. So many people had written us off before the game, but we wanted the three points.
"All credit to Man City, they're a fantastic team, but we felt we matched them for long periods today. The performance was something we can look back on - that's the standard. To a man, every player gave everything. We need to maintain that standard. And if we do, I am 100% confident that we will get ourselves out of trouble."
Swansea will take on West Ham United in their next league fixture on Sunday, December 20.
