Garry Monk: 'Leicester City are top-six contenders'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk claims that Leicester City can finish in the top six of the Premier League.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has suggested that Leicester City are capable of finishing in the Premier League's top six.

The Foxes are joint-top of the standings going into this weekend's match with the Swans, having taken 29 points from 14 games.

Monk has claimed that while the East Midlanders might not have the staying power to mount a title challenge, European football is not out of their reach.

"I think they are doing fantastically. It's brilliant what they have done," the Leicester Mercury quotes him as saying.

"Southampton were that type of team last season, now it's Leicester. I think history shows you that in terms of whether they are title contenders, the answer is possibly not.

"But I think for sure they are genuine top-six contenders. The way they have started the season, they have put themselves in a great position. I am sure they just want to keep that momentum going and see how far they can go."

Leicester meet the Swans at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
