Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin admits that his future at the club is uncertain following his side's 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool.

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has admitted that his future at the club is uncertain following their 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool this afternoon.

The Swans fell to their fifth loss in their last six league games at the hands of the in-form Reds, squandering an early lead as second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and James Milner secured all three points for the visitors.

Speculation has been mounting over the past week that Guidolin's job could be on the line with the team just one point clear of the relegation zone, but the Italian believes that this afternoon's result was harsh on his side.

"My team played a very good game. Liverpool is a very strong team. The draw would have been the right result. We played better in the first half and they played better in the second half. We need a good result. The team played a good game. We have to look forward," he told Sky Sports News.

"At the end we had a good chance. I prefer to think of our first half. We were aggressive and dynamic. It's important for a manager. Our team is good but we are not in a good moment. The players gave me a good answer. Our relationship is good. There is no problem between me and my players.

"I don't know [if I will be sacked]. It's not my decision. It's just for me to prepare for the game and the team. I know the situation. It's a possibility. The important thing to prepare with patience. Before the game I saw the new owners Jason [Levien] and Steve [Kaplan] just to say 'hello'. I don't know if in the next day there's meeting."

The likes of Ryan Giggs and Bob Bradley have been linked with the post should Guidolin lose his job.
