Modou Barrow signs new three-year Swansea City deal

Swansea City confirm that Gambian winger Modou Barrow has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

Swansea City winger Modou Barrow has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 23-year-old, whose old contract was to expire in 2018, has added an extra year to his terms and will now be at the Liberty Stadium until 2019.

Barrow made 25 appearances for the Swans last season as they comfortably avoided relegation, although just six of those outings were from the start.

Barrow also scored one goal in that time, making history by becoming the first Gambian to find the back of the net in the Premier League during Swansea's 3-2 loss to Bournemouth in March.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. Now I've signed a longer contract, I really want to push on here. Now we've had a break, we are all looking forward to starting the season," he told the club's official website.

"We have a pre-season tour of America ahead of us, which will really benefit the squad. There is a real sense of excitement for the new season. On a personal level, I want to get the fans on their feet. That's what I want to do when I'm on the ball.

"I'm happy to get their support when I'm playing and I want to get them on their feet a lot more. Francesco [Guidolin] is a good manager. He gave me a lot of chances to prove myself in games, and I'm looking forward to improving under him."

Swansea will travel out to the United States for a two-game pre-season tour later today before starting their 2016-17 campaign away to newly-promoted Burnley.
