Swindon boss keen to bring back Eoin Doyle

Swindon Town manager Richie Wellens says that he is hopeful of landing prolific scorer Eoin Doyle on loan again for the rest of the season.

Swindon Town manager Richie Wellens has said that the club are keen to bring back Eoin Doyle on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old joined the Robins on a season-long loan from League Two rivals Bradford City in August and has enjoyed a spectacular season at the County Ground, scoring 23 goals in 24 games to rank as Europe's top scorer and help Swindon to top of the table.

Doyle remarked last month that he would be "disappointed" to be recalled by his parent club, but Gary Bowyer's side did just that earlier this week as they look to mount their own promotion push in the second half of the campaign.

"Is the club making an active attempt to get Eoin back? Let's just wait and see," Wellens told the Swindon Advertiser. "We want the player back. He's Bradford's player, he's gone back - we'll see what develops from there.

"It is just where we're at in terms of our finances that means we have to take loan players and then you run the risk of players being recalled. We will see what happens in terms of getting Doyle back.

"Eoin has come out and said where he wants to be, how he feels. So, we'll just see what happens over the next couple of days, maybe the next week and then we'll go from there."

Doyle was back in training with Bradford today ahead of the Bantams' trip to Crawley Town on Saturday.
