Ecuador have earned a 1-0 lead over Switzerland at half time in this evening's World Cup encounter in Brasilia.
The Swiss started the opening 45 minutes slowly, but they carved open the first proper chance of the match when Xherdan Shaqiri's low drive was saved by Alexander Dominguez.
Dominguez was called into action again soon after when he spilled Ricardo Rodriguez's innocuous effort behind for a corner.

While Switzerland looked more likely to score, it was Ecuador who made the breakthrough on 22 minutes as Enner Valencia arrived in the box to head home Walter Ayovi's dangerous free kick.
Despite going behind, the Swiss continued to push forward in search of an equaliser, but the Ecuadorians held firm to hold onto their advantage.
