Sydney FC leapfrog Central Coast Mariners with win

Sydney FC leapfrog Central Coast Mariners and go fourth in the A-League table with a 2-0 home victory over Phil Moss's side.

Sydney FC have moved into fourth in the A-League table with an assured 2-0 victory at home to Central Coast Mariners.

Terry Antonis gave the home side the lead in the 21st minute with a thumping drive from the edge of the box after a corner was not cleared.

Just four minutes later, Sasa Ognenovski doubled their advantage as Milos Dimitrijevic's deflected in off the defender.

Alex Brisque then saw his shot cleared off the line as the home side continued to pour forward in numbers.

A few minutes before half time, Vedran Janjetovic kept his clean sheet intact with a smart save from Mitchell Duke's header.

Duke continued to threaten after the break and rattled the bar, while Antonis saw another effort blocked on the line at the other end of the pitch.

After a flurry of second-half chances, Sydney tightened up and held on to secure an important victory.
