Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory remain undefeated after stalemate

Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory squander the opportunity to go top of the A-League table after playing out a goalless draw, despite both remaining undefeated this season.

Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory failed to take the opportunity to go top of the A-League, after playing out a goalless draw at Allianz Stadium.

Each side still remain undefeated however, leaving both Sydney and Victory a point behind leaders Adelaide United.

In a fairly even contest, both sides had plenty of chances to break the deadlock, as Sydney scored within the first five minutes from a corner only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

The action was end-to-end at intervals in the match, with both goalkeepers putting on impressive displays to keep the score goalless.

Milos Dimitrijevic came closest for Sydney in the second half, as his dipping free kick bounced off the top of the bar and went over, beating Nathan Coe in the Victory goal.

The result will frustrate both managers after Adelaide won their match against Wellington earlier in the day.
