Landon Donovan believes that his Los Angeles Galaxy teammate David Beckham should be in the Team GB squad for the Olympics.

Landon Donovan has claimed that his Los Angeles Galaxy teammate David Beckham should have been selected in the Team GB squad for the Olympic Games.

The former England captain was controversially left out of manager Stuart Pearce's 18-man squad earier this month.

However, Donovan believes that the 37-year-old can still perform on the international stage.

"David has been playing great and can still do it," he said. "It's a shame he's not going to London to play.

"He's been terrific just recently and I think most teams in the world would want a guy like that on their side in the form he's in right now."

Beckham set up goals for Donovan and Robbie Keane in the Galaxy's 3-1 win over Chivas on Sunday.
