Conference Premier roundup: Barnet go top

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's action from the Conference Premier as Barnet move to the top of the table on goal difference and Bristol Rovers draw.

Barnet moved to the top of the Conference Premier on goal difference with a 2-1 victory over Eastleigh after Bristol Rovers were held to a 2-2 draw by Halifax Town.

Curtis Weston and John Akinde fired Barnet into the lead, but they had to hold on after a late Ben Strevens penalty dragged Eastleigh back into the game.

It could have been worse for Rovers, who trailed Halifax for much of the match before Lee Brown and Ellis Harrison struck to salvage a draw for Darrell Clarke's side.

Third-placed Macclesfield Town failed to make to make it a three-way tie at the top of the table after goals from Jamie Chandler and Michael Rankine gave Gateshead a 2-1 win at the International Stadium.

Late goals from Ben Heneghan and John Rooney forced Grimsby Town to settle for a draw with Chester, while Forest Green Rovers could only manage a point against Braintree Town.

Woking closed the gap on the leading pack as Scott Rendell, Kevin Betsy and Giuseppe Sole all struck to wrap up a 3-1 win over Telford United, who remain rooted to the bottom of the league.

Tom Shaw's last-minute goal gave Alfreton Town a precious win over Dartford in their quest for survival, while Dominic Vose and Jason Williams struck to give Welling United an equally-important win over 10-man Lincoln City.

Nuneaton Town managed a goalless draw with Torquay United, but remain in the relegation zone, though Southport moved away from trouble as first-half goals from Paul Smith and George Donnelly gave them a 2-1 win over Aldershot Town.

Kieron Morris, Ross White, Louis Moult and Connor Jennings were all on target as Wrexham put four past Altrincham, and Dover Athletic moved up a place with a 2-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough Stadium.
