Torino hold Palermo in entertaining draw

Kamil Glik secures a point for Torino as the hosts claim a 2-2 Serie A draw with Palermo in Turin.

Torino have pulled further clear of the Serie A relegation zone by claiming a 2-2 draw with Palermo.

Palermo broke the deadlock in just the 16th minute when Luca Rigoni produced an emphatic finish from the right side of the box, after latching onto an inch-perfect pass from Paulo Dybala.

Torino responded well to falling behind, but they missed a great opportunity when Fabio Quagliarella fired wide from inside a congested penalty area.

The hosts found the equaliser that their pressure deserved when Joseph Martinez controlled a cross from Emiliano Moretti to turn and slot the ball past Stefano Sorrentino.

However, Palermo were back in front before the break when Dybala scored from a tight angle after he had created space in the box with a clever flick.

Sorrentino was forced into action early in the second half to keep out low strikes from both Martinez and Quagliarella.

The frustration was over for the home fans just after the hour mark when Kamil Glik jumped highest in the box to powerfully head home from a corner.

Both sides went in search of a winner in the closing stages, but the defences held firm as the chances dried up at both ends.
