Jay Simpson rejects Turkey move

Former Arsenal and Hull City forward Jay Simpson turns down a two-year contract offer from Turkish club Gaziantepspor.

Former Arsenal and Hull City forward Jay Simpson has turned down an offer to join Gaziantepspor.

The 24-year-old, who is a free agent after being released by the Tigers this summer, travelled to Turkey over the weekend, but he rejected a two-year contract.

He has now returned to England to consider his options, with a number of other foreign clubs understood to be keen on securing his services.

"The interest in Jay is high," agent Leon Callander told Sky Sports News.

"He does like the idea of playing abroad, and that is why we had the talks in Turkey, but things were not quite right.

"We will be assessing the options over the coming days and see what is best for him."

Simpson scored 13 goals in 86 first-team appearances for Hull, whom he joined from Arsenal in August 2010.
