River Plate sign Javier Saviola, Pablo Aimar

Argentine internationals Javier Saviola and Pablo Aimar return to River Plate, after 14 years away from the club.

River Plate have completed the double signing of former players Javier Saviola and Pablo Aimar.

The duo both started their careers at the Argentine giants, before going on to enjoy further success in Europe.

Saviola joins the club after a season at Hellas Verona, where he only managed to score one goal in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Aimar arrives from Malaysian Super League club Johor Darul Takzim, following five trophy-laden years at Benfica.

River have also completed the signing of former Argentina international Lucho Gonzalez.
