Goals from Maxime Gonalons and Samuel Umtiti secure a 2-1 victory for Lyon over Troyes in Ligue 1.

Lyon have taken three points from Troyes with a 2-1 victory in the Ligue 1 clash between the sides this evening.

Michel Bastos had an effort on goal after six minutes, but his shot was well-blocked by an alert defence.

Lyon then took the lead on 11 minutes after some great work by Steed Malbranque set up Maxime Gonalons, who finished well to make it 1-0.

Lisandro Lopez drove forward for the away side on 23 minutes, but his finish was wide of the target.

Soon after, Troyes began to threaten Lyon with efforts from Stephane Darbion and Corentin Jean coming close.

The home side then found an equaliser after 38 minutes when Benjamin Nivet scored from a fine assist by Julien Faussurier.

Nivet had a chance to grab a second on 51 minutes, but his shot went just wide of the post.

Lopez came close for Lyon on 57 minutes, though his strike was off target as Les Gones pushed forward to try and restore their lead.

Lyon did get back in front after 75 minutes through young defender Samuel Umtiti, who was on target to make it 2-1.

Troyes pushed forward in hope of a late equaliser, but Lyon stood firm to secure all three points.
