A late penalty from Nicolas Lopez earned Uruguay a place in the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup as they beat Nigeria 2-1 this evening.
After a goalless first half, the Roma forward opened the scoring in the 65th minute with a fine finish past Chukwunenye Okani.
However, Juan Verzeri's side were pegged back immediately as Olarenwaju Kayode scored an equaliser in the 69th minute.
Just as the game was looking as though it was heading to extra time, Uruguay were awarded a penalty and Lopez duly dispatched it to confirm his side's place in the last eight of the competition.
