Luis Suarez has not been passed fit to play for Uruguay in tonight's World Cup Group D opener against Costa Rica.

The Liverpool striker only returned to full training yesterday after knee surgery and will hope to regain full fitness in time for Thursday's game against England.

Suarez's absence means that Edinson Cavani will lead the line, with Diego Forlan in behind.
