Vancouver Whitecaps maintain winning run with Los Angeles Galaxy victory

The Vancouver Whitecaps defeat the Los Angeles 2-0 in their MLS clash thanks to strikes from Kekuta Manneh and Raul Rivero at BC Place.

The Vancouver Whitecaps secured their fourth win in a row in the MLS as strikes from Kekuta Manneh and Raul Rivero guided them to a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The home side were the first to threaten as Pedro Morales turned his man on the edge of the box, but Jaime Penedo was on hand to keep his effort out with a solid stop.

Vancouver worked the ball well through the middle of the pitch, allowing Manneh to strike an effort at goal from distance, but his shot went over the bar.

In the second half, Manneh was able to power his strike on target after further good work from the Whitecaps midfield, but Penedo made a good save to palm the ball to safety.

However, minutes later, the home side were ahead as Morales released the run of Manneh and the forward made no mistake in slotting the ball past Penedo.

The Whitecaps almost doubled their lead when Nicolas Mezquida lined up a strike from distance, and his effort went inches past the post with Penedo beaten.

Vancouver did not have to wait long to register their second goal as Mezquida teed up Rivero on the edge of the box, and the midfielder found the bottom corner with a low drive to secure the victory for his side.
