Vancouver Whitecaps secured a 2-1 home win over Columbus Crew thanks to goals from Daigo Kobayashi and Kenny Miller.
The hosts took the lead in just the sixth minute when Kobayashi let fly with an effort that went into the net from 30 yards.
Miller could have doubled his side's lead just before the break but his shot was saved by Andy Gruenebaum and Nigel Reo-Coker somehow missed the rebound.
After half time Columbus were immediately level through Jairo Arrieta who fired a shot past Joe Cannon after Ben Speas but him through on goal.
This parity lasted only minutes as Miller handed the Whitecaps the lead again, as he stole the ball from Glauber and lifted the ball over Gruenebaum into the net.
Columbus tried to get back into the game but the home side held out for the win to go top of the Western Conference in the MLS.
