After beginning the tournament with a 3-0 defeat to the defending champions USA, Vietnam turned their attention to Thursday's meeting with Portugal.
They would have been bracing themselves for a heavy defeat after Portugal established a two-goal advantage inside 21 minutes.
However, Vietnam showed great character and fight to restrict their European opponents to just two goals despite seeing their opponents register 29 shots and nine efforts on target.
With their first appearance at the Women's World Cup set to come to an end on Tuesday, Vietnam will be looking to produce a competitive performance against the 2019 runners-up.
Having lost their last five internationals by a combined 18-1 scoreline, Mai Duc Chung's side have their work cut out to trouble the Dutch.

The Netherlands have made a positive start to the tournament after picking up four points from their opening two fixtures.
They kicked off with a narrow 1-0 win over Portugal, before playing out a 1-1 draw against the USA in a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final.
Jill Roord opened the scoring to give the Netherlands a precious half-time lead, but a 62nd-minute effort from Lindsey Horan ensured that the Oranje had to be content with a point.
The Netherlands are currently sitting in second place in Group E, and they only need to avoid defeat to secure their place in the last 16.
With the USA sitting in top spot on goal difference, Andries Jonker's side will need to better the record winners' result to seal first place.

Vietnam will line up with Luong Thi Thu Thuong, Le Thi Diem My and Tran Thi Thu in central defence, while Tran Thi Thu Thao and Hoang Thi Loan will feature as the two wing-backs.
After dropping out of the side for the defeat to Portugal, Tran Thi Hai Linh could return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest.
Nhu Huynh, who plays her club football in Portugal, is expected to have the thankless task of leading the line against the 2019 finalists.
As for the Netherlands, Stephanie van der Gragt is expected to take her place in the side despite being forced off at half time of Thursday's draw with the USA.
However, there are doubts over the availability of Juventus forward Lineth Beerensteyn, who missed the second group game through injury.
If Beerensteyn is unable to feature, Everton's Katja Snoeijs will continue to operate in the forward line alongside Lieke Martens.
Vietnam Women possible starting lineup:
Kim Thanh; Thu Thao, Thu Thuong, Diem My, Thi Thu, Thi Loan; Bich Thuy, Thi Van, Thi Thao, Thanh Nha; Nhu
Netherlands Women possible starting lineup:

We say: Vietnam Women 0-4 Netherlands Women
The Netherlands will be in a confident mood after collecting four points from their first two games, and we think that they will continue to build momentum by picking up a comfortable victory in their final group match against Vietnam.
