Villarreal skipper Bruno Soriano has claimed that security measures need to be improved following the crowd incident that occurred during the Yellow Submarine's 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo on Saturday.
Play was suspended for 20 minutes towards the end of the La Liga clash after a gas canister was thrown onto the field, which left the stadium full of smoke.
"What happened that night could happen in any stadium, not just here," he told reporters. "The only positive thing is that nothing has happened as a result, we can make a reaction and from now on, put more security in place.
"We couldn't believe what happened. We didn't think it was so serious at first, we just thought it was a flare.
"Fortunately it hasn't affected things as badly as it could have, but we must ensure that it doesn't happen again. We're feeling much better about things now, but we still want to know who has done this and why."
The defeat left Villarreal four points off the top four in La Liga.
