Marcelino criticises La Liga schedule

Villarreal boss Marcelino criticises La Liga for their scheduling of Monday's league meeting with Athletic Bilbao.

Villarreal boss Marcelino has criticised La Liga for scheduling the Yellow Submarine's league clash with Athletic Bilbao for 10pm local time on Monday evening.

The pair clash at El Madrigal this evening with Villarreal currently in sixth spot in the table, seven points behind Bilbao, who sit in the final Champions League position.

"The match between Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao, which is between the fourth and fifth place team in the league, will be at Monday at 22:00," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I feel it shows a lack of respect for the fans, where they are deprived of enjoying a great match against two great teams. If it was scheduled earlier, there's no doubt it would have been a full house but at this hour, we'll be lucky to get 10,000 through the gates."

Victory for the home side would move them above Real Sociedad into fifth.
