Villarreal have completed the signing of Porto and Mexico defender Miguel Layun.
The 30-year-old ended the most recent campaign on loan at Sevilla - making a total of 16 appearances in La Liga - but the Spanish outfit failed to push through a permanent move for the wideman.
Arsenal have also been linked with an approach for Layun but the decision has been made to link up with Villarreal on a three-year contract.
The transfer fee involved has not been disclosed but it is reportedly in the region of £3.5m.
Layun will be representing his third Spanish club after beginning his career with Real Madrid, although no senior outings were made at the Bernabeu.
