Wales share draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina

Wales share a goalless draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their Euro 2016 qualifier at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Wales have shared a goalless draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their first home match in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign at the Cardiff City Stadium this evening.

Gareth Bale was involved early on as the home side made a bright start to the match, narrowly missing while attempting to turn the ball in from a corner before forcing a save from Asmir Begovic.

The visitors looked to catch Wales out on the counter-attack, but Miralem Pjanic's long-range drive was pushed away from Wayne Hennessey.

The Welsh keeper came under increasing pressure as the first half progressed, with Pjanic sending another effort wide before Hennessey denied Vedad Ibisevic from a header.

Edin Dzeko tried to open the scoring moments before the half time whistle, but his flick on from close range was kept out by the fingertips of Hennessey.

Bosnia continued to dominate the match after the restart as Haris Medunjanin missed a chance from close range before Dzeko had two more efforts denied by Hennessey.

However, a break in play while Jonathan Williams received treatment allowed Wales to refocus, and see more of the possession in the final 30 minutes.

Bale created a chance for Ashley Williams after curling a free kick in towards the captain, but the defender's header from just a couple of yards out went high.

Bosnia immediately put Hennessey under pressure again down the other end, but the keeper watched a Pjanic free kick all the way to push it clear.

Both sides continued to push for a late winner as Bale was straight back down the other end, only to fire straight at Begovic.

The home side thought that they should have had a penalty in the final moments when Bale took a tumble inside the box, but the referee waved his appeals away.

Bale was involved again in the final moments, attempting to slice the ball in from a tight angle to force Begovic to tip the ball behind, but Hal Robson-Kanu could not find the back of the net with a header from the resulting corner.

Having played a match more than Belgium, Wales sit top of Group B, three points clear of Bosnia.
