Chris Coleman: 'I'm delighted to extend Wales deal'

Wales manager Chris Coleman believes that he and his players will benefit from the experience he has picked up during his first two years in charge of his country.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has admitted that he is "delighted" to have signed a new deal to remain in charge of his country for the next two years.

With a month remaining on his original contract, Coleman's future had looked in some doubt, but the former Fulham manager has revealed that he is happy to lead Wales in their attempts to qualify for the European Championship in 2016.

The 43-year-old told reporters: "I'm delighted to extend my contract for the next campaign. I'm thoroughly looking forward to the challenges that will come.

"I think having two years of experience will be better for me going into the next campaign, so I'm delighted that I have been given the opportunity to lead my country into the next qualification campaign."

Coleman has won just four of his 15 matches in charge, but Wales did pick up four points from their final two World Cup qualifying games last month.
