Troy Deeney dedicates victory over Arsenal to Graham Taylor

Troy Deeney insists that Watford were good value for their victory over Arsenal - a win that he dedicates to former manager Graham Taylor, who died earlier this month.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has dedicated his side's 2-1 victory over Arsenal to late former manager Graham Taylor.

Taylor, who guided the Hornets from the old Fourth Division to the top flight in just five years at Vicarage Road, passed away earlier this month at the age of 72.

Watford pulled off their biggest result of the campaign on Tuesday evening by earning a first Premier League triumph over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, sealing the victory thanks to goals from Younes Kaboul and Deeney early on.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Deeney was quick to pay his respects to the Watford legend on the eve of his funeral.

"We were much the better team in the first half and we took our chances when they came," he said. "It was a really good team performance. It is Graham Taylor's funeral tomorrow so I think all the players and fans would like to dedicate that to him."

Victory for Watford - their first in eight league games - lifts them one place into 13th in the Premier League table.
