Watford defender Marvin Zeegelaar has failed with an appeal over his red card against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
During the first half of the Premier League clash at Turf Moor, Zeegelaar was dismissed for a two-footed challenge on midfielder Steven Defour.
After the match, Hornets boss Marco Silva claimed that the referee had changed the game with a decision that he described as "harsh", but the Football Association has opted to enforce a three-match suspension.
The Dutchman will now miss his club's upcoming matches with Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.
Burnley eventually prevailed by a 1-0 scoreline, with Scott Arfield scoring the only goal of the game shortly after Zeegelaar was sent off.
