The 30-year-old Romanian joins the club on a free transfer after half a season with Doncaster Rovers.
He left West Brom last summer for CFR Cluj in his home country before returning to England with Donny, for whom he made 14 appearances in the second half of the season.
Tamas also has 63 caps at international level with Romania.
