Adelaide United have registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Wellington Phoenix away from home in the A-League.

The only goal of a very attacking game at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington came just before the half hour mark.

Tarek Elrich was brought down inside the Phoenix box and Marcelo Carrusca successfully converted the spot kick.

The result means that Adelaide are now fourth in the league standings, while Ernie Merrick's side are third from bottom.
