Thomas Schaaf is happy that Werder Bremen ascertained their Bundesliga status for next season on Saturday.

Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf has expressed his relief at his side retaining the Bundesliga status for next season.

A 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt at the Weserstadion on Saturday ensured that the Green-Whites will not finish in the bottom three this campaign.

"I'd like to say a huge thank you to the fans," Bundesliga.com quotes him as saying. "It was fantastic, extraordinary and remarkable. They urged us on for 90 minutes.

"Thank God things didn't go the way they went last weekend. The team were rewarded and released the pressure. They can celebrate, but I'm not going to."

Bremen are away at Nuremberg in their final game of their Bundesliga campaign on Saturday.
