Werder Bremen play down Franco Di Santo rumours

Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin says that he has received no bids for striker Franco Di Santo.

Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin has revealed that he has received no bids for striker Franco Di Santo.

The former Chelsea and Wigan Athletic striker has been linked with a switch to Real Sociedad in recent weeks, but Eichin says that there is no substance to the speculation.

"No-one has tried to get in touch with me [about the availability of Franco Di Santo]," he told reporters.

"Franco is an important player for Werder Bremen. He is fully part of our plans for the new season."

The 25-year-old, who struck four times for the Bundesliga outfit last season, was named in Argentina's provisional squad for the World Cup but failed to make the 23-man panel.
