Keith Downing disappointed with FA Cup exit

West Bromwich Albion caretaker boss Keith Downing admits that he is unhappy with his side following their exit from the FA Cup.

West Bromwich Albion caretaker boss Keith Downing has admitted that he is disappointed that his side crashed out of the FA Cup following their 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

The Baggies fell at the first hurdle in the competition as goals from Dwight Gayle and Maroaune Chamakh condemned them to defeat at The Hawthorns.

Downing told the club's official website: "It's a competition we wanted to progress in and today was disappointing. We were a little short of how we have been in last four games.

"We conceded poor goal. Tony Pulis's sides are always difficult to break down and giving them a goal meant our task was doubly tough. We kept going but without creating too much. Credit to Palace, they were resolute in their defending."

West Brom are next in action in the Premier League against Southampton next Saturday.
