Saido Berahino confident again after feeling "more alone than rock bottom"

West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino has said that Alan Irvine he instilled confidence in him again, after feeling "more alone than rock bottom" at the end of last season.

West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has said that he has regained his self belief after losing confidence last season.

The England Under-21 international lost form at the end of last season following a fallout with James Morrison, which left the youngster feeling isolated.

"I felt more alone than rock bottom. There was no-one I could go to in the club and get advice from," Berahino told Sky Sports.

"Things have changed as last season I don't think the seniors knew who I was. Now we've got that relationship, they understand me and I understand them.

"You mature quicker, playing a man's game, you have the senior lads that help you along with it as well. I would say maybe I learned that the harsh way last season."

Berahino also said that the loss of Steve Clarke hampered his progression, but he is back to his usual self following the appointment of Alan Irvine.

"Losing Steve Clarke kind of touched me, I kind of lost myself. Those things happen.

"Alan has brought that self-belief back into me, I kind of lost that at the end of last season. And he's given me freedom to play and express myself which I think is really important."

West Brom take on Burnley at home this afternoon, and you can follow the game live on Sports Mole from 3pm.
