West Bromwich Albion defender Gabriel Tamas receives a three-match ban after accepting a charge of violent conduct.

West Bromwich Albion's Gabriel Tamas has accepted a Football Association charge of violent conduct following an incident during his side's weekend victory over Norwich City.

The Romanian centre-back appeared to catch Norwich's James Vaughan in the face with a stray elbow, leaving the striker requiring hospital treatment.

Tamas has denied deliberately making contact with Vaughan but has admitted that his actions were "clumsy".

"We have spoken at length with Gabriel and he is adamant that he did not intentionally elbow James in the face," said the club's legal secretary Richard Garlick.

"However, he admits the way he turned in the penalty area was clumsy and he has apologised to James through a mutual friend for the injury he has suffered.

"Although we accept Gabriel's version of the incident, both the player and the club have decided against appealing the decision as it would prove very difficult to overturn."

Tamas will be suspended for the Baggies' next three matches against Swansea City, Everton and Fulham.
