West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye has revealed that he has asked Nwankwo Kanu for advice about how to fulfil his potential in the Premier League.
The Nigeria international joined the Baggies in a £10m move from Dynamo Kiev last month, and has revealed that one of the first calls he made was to his fellow countryman, who played for two seasons at the Hawthorns from 2004 to 2006.
Ideye told the club's official website: "I spoke with Kanu, once or twice in a week. He's a great guy. He told me to be myself and try to do my best on the pitch, to score goals so that hopefully the fans and the club would be behind me.
"He just told me to give my best in every game and try to get my head down and listen to what the manager has to say and also what my fellow players are telling me."
The 25-year-old made his debut for Alan Irvine's side in their 0-0 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
